CASH AID SHOULD UPLIFT LIVES, NOT JUST HELP MAKE ENDS MEET

• Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson promises to reinvent social services programs on cash aid or “ayuda” when he becomes President.

• These should not merely be a means to meet immediate needs, but a way to help people rise from their current situation.

• In the 3rd episode of Online Kumustahan, which he hosted with Vice Presidential running mate Senate President Tito Sotto, Lacson questioned the amount of government funds already used for the distribution of cash aid, and whether this has changed the lives of ordinary Filipinos.

• Lacson cited the 4Ps program which has distributed about half a trillion worth of cash aid since 2016.

• Lacson said his team plans to study and reinvent the country’s social services programs so that they are enabled to uplift the lives of beneficiaries.

• Lacson added that he wouldn’t mind increasing the budget for 4Ps, as long as it can ensure the productivity of its recipients.
• In line with this, the Partido Reporma presidential bet stressed that local government units will have a stronger voice under his leadership.

• Lacson said that this is the best way to effectively identify what the people really need, and to guarantee that all of the allotted funds are received by the LGUs.
