TUBOD, Lanao del Norte - The Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte, in partnership with the National Commission of Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and the Local Government of Tubod, held its 3rd Phase in the Cultural Mapping Project (Training of the Local Team) at the MDRRMO OpCen Conference Hall, Tubod from November 29 to December 3, 2021.

Alerma Grace Y Montaรฑez, Provincial Tourism Officer, said, "Our culture and heritage are essential components of our unique identity. In the same effort that we promote tourist sites, we should extend the same action in identifying, documenting, exhibiting, and restoring our cultural heritage."

NCCA facilitators Dennis Coronel, Denise Aguilar, and Sittie Pandapatan trained 15 cultural mappers from the municipality of Tubod using the ten (10) modules discussing the basic concepts on culture and cultural heritage, mapping and documenting the natural heritage, tangible and intangible heritage, personalities and institutions, and the LGU programs, activities, legislations and other resources for culture.

The implementation of the said project is supported with the Tripartite Memorandum of Understanding between the NCCA, PGLDN, and LGU Tubod, following the mandate stated in RA 10066 article IV, B, and VIII encouraging the preservation, enrichment, maintaining of the cultural heritage of the locality.

"After the training, the mappers will continue with Phase 4, which is the Data Gathering. It will take about one to two months to substantially gather data on the major components of the culture profile," Dennis Coronel said. PIO-LDN
